McReynolds Winery ~ Cypress Mill, TX

What makes for a beautiful, full bodied glass of wine?  Grapes (but not just any grapes, grapes native to the Mediterranean), lots of practice, blood, sweat, tears and two of the sweetest people I've ever had the joy of meeting.  Mac and Maureen are a terrifically precious couple and I had such a splendid time visiting with them and hearing their story.

Why would a valedictorian and computer genius/jack of all trades, from the windy city no less, decide to become oenologists and have a winery in the Texas Hill Country?  The challenge, the fun, and of course the resplendent countryside and our slower paced Texas way of life.

Tucked back in the hills about 6miles east from TX Hwy 281 in Round Mountain/Cypress Mill, nestled among age-old live oaks and wildflowers, sits the most adorable little vineyard I've ever seen, McReynolds Wines.  They have several signature wines to choose from, picnic tables and a quaint tasting room with a plethora of boutique items for sale, including the best remedy for removing red wine stains!  They've been featured in several publications and their '05 Chardonnay was praised in an issue of Chile Pepper magazine, receiving very high marks and characterized as "lightly spicy, with sweet taste of vanilla and supple fruit".

Many a day you'll find anything from couples enjoying a romantic picnic to loads of friends touring our wine country together, enjoying a fun afternoon of wine tasting and good company.  You might even get to meet a little Sangria.  She was my personal favorite ;)  (the precious dog they found and adopted many years ago).

There is just something special about this place.  The tranquil surroundings, the birds and flowers, the slow pace of life and of course, the humble and gracious hosts.  Even if you don't happen to be a Wineaux (LOVED the shirt, lol!) you won't regret making the trip to visit the McReynolds.  I guarantee it!

Mac, Maureen... I thoroughly enjoyed every moment I got to visit with you all.  I think I may just have to steal my hubby away to your place for one of those romantic picnics :)  Blessings to you both!

I can't explain how incredibly peaceful it was!  You'll have to check it out yourself to really understand this place.

Maureen's climbing roses took my breath away.

Sangria is a great little addition to this family :)

Ok.  I can't tell you HOW hard it was not to sample a little during this shoot, lol!  Beautiful bouquet!

There's my new favorite shirt :)

The wooden deck, the quilt covered bench.... can't you just feel how wonderful and simple this sweet place is?
It's like home.  Only better.

Their label is designed using several paintings done by a close friend.  The glorious color on those bottles made me swoon!

I could have sat there visiting for hours.  Loved every minute of it and left yearning for more :)
